Safeguarding

Sandbrook Primary  is committed to keeping children safe.

Safeguarding is about ensuring that everyone is safe from harm – safe from bullying, safe from people who could abuse, safe from neglect and safe from discrimination or harassment.

Every member of staff is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and we expect everyone who works with our children to share this commitment.

We have a number of policies and procedures in place that contribute to our safeguarding commitment.  Sandbrook staff are vigilant for signs of harm or pupils in need and are confident about applying our safeguarding processes to avert and alleviate any such problems.

Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child's welfare. We will ensure that our concerns about our pupils are discussed with parents/carers first unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the child's welfare.

We also actively support the Government's Prevent Agenda to counter radicalism and extremism.

We are part of the national Operation Encompass scheme.  This operates between schools and all police forces.  Operation Encompass means that our school will be told, prior to the start of the next school day, when police have attended an incident of domestic abuse where there is a child or young person who attends our school who is related to any of those involved in the incident.  This means that we can understand a child's behaviour and support them if needed.
