OPENING HOURS
The office is staffed from 8:30 until 4:00 each day. During busy periods and outside of these hours, you may need to leave a message on the answering machine and we will respond as soon as possible.
ABSENCE REPORTING
Sandbrook takes the safeguarding of children very seriously and we need to ensure we know the whereabouts of all children.
- If your child is going to be absent due to sickness, please phone the office by 9.00 and leave a message on the answering machine. If you are unsure as to whether your child needs to be absent, please refer to the Health Protection file below.
- If you arrive after the main entrance gates are closed, please bring your child to the office and sign them into the 'late book'
- If you need to take your child out of school, a responsible adult needs to sign them out at the office. Please try and make appointments outside of school hours when possible as collecting children from class causes distractions for other children. Children should be out of school for the minimum amount of time possible.
PERMISSION SLIPS / MONEY INTO SCHOOL
Sandbrook is now a cash-free school and all payments are made via a ParentPay account. In exceptional circumstances only, money coming into school should be in a named envelope with details of what the money is for clearly written on the envelope. Please do not send in loose change as the children post all money into a locked post-box outside the office.
MEDICINES IN SCHOOL / BUMPED HEADS
In certain circumstances, prescribed medicine may need to be taken during school hours (for example antibiotics needed 4 times a day). All medicine in school needs to be brought to / collected from the school office by an adult and an appropriate medicine form completed. We will not dispense medicine without the appropriate form being completed and we will not give medicine to children to take home at night. Medicine needs to be in the original container with the child's name and dosage clearly visible.
It is our policy to inform you if your child has a bump to the head. This will be by way of an email. If you receive an email please do not panic, it is for information only. If we have any concerns regarding a child that we consider urgent or needs more careful monitoring, we will phone and speak to you in person.
PARENTPAY ACCOUNTS
All children in school will have a ParentPay account created for them to enable parents to pay for items such as meals, clubs and trips.
When a child leaves the school (either in-year or end of phase), if their ParentPay school meal account, breakfast club account etc. is in credit, any amount over £2.50 will be refunded within 3 months. Lesser amounts will be refunded at the parent’s request, otherwise will be absorbed into the school budget (to offset payment fees etc.).
If their account is in debit, the amount owing will be requested and, if not paid, the balance will be transferred to a sibling. If there is no sibling, school will apply for a debt invoice to be created via Wirral Council.
